Where the Currents Diverge

There’s a point where water stops moving together.

One current catches the shoreline. Another pulls toward open water. For a while they can look like the same thing, moving under the same moon, carrying the same debris. Then somewhere beyond the breakers, they separate.

You don’t always notice when it happens.

Currents Diverge came from that space.

Not necessarily the moment something ends, but the quieter realization that it already has. The smoke is still hanging in the air. The light is still burning. The pier is still beneath your feet. But whatever you were trying to hold onto has begun moving somewhere else.

There’s a lot of water in this one.

Black water beneath a weathered pier. Moonlight moving across the surface. Bottles, memories and old ghosts drifting past. A foghorn somewhere beyond sight.

Things appearing.

Things disappearing.

Things returning just long enough to be recognized before the tide takes them again.

Maybe that’s why the song keeps circling instead of arriving anywhere. The tide comes in. The tide goes out. Everything returns. Everything falls down.

By morning, the shoreline is still there.

But it isn’t the same shoreline.

Somehow, we aren't the same either.

Notes From the Field

Field Notes is the working archive of the Driftline mythology — photographs, recordings and transmissions drawn from the roads, coastlines and forgotten places where the project seems to live.

A motel room. A diner after midnight. A harbor in bad weather. A radio transmission fading somewhere over the water.

Individually, they’re fragments. Together, they’ve started to resemble a place.

The map gives those fragments a geography.

There are still blank spaces.

We intend to leave some of them that way.

Broadcasting From the Edge of the Signal

Somewhere from beyond the threshold, a transmitter surfaced online.

Driftline Radio is now broadcasting.

No playlists. No requests. No rewind.

You get whatever comes across the frequency when you tune in — songs from the Driftline catalog, station IDs, DJ transmissions, strange interruptions, and occasionally something you won’t find anywhere else.

There’s no track list telling you what comes next. No algorithm trying to figure out what you want to hear. Sometimes you catch the beginning. Sometimes you come in somewhere in the middle. Sometimes the signal takes you somewhere unexpected.

Miss something?

Keep listening.

That’s how radio used to work.

Somewhere Beyond the Threshold

There’s a point on every road where the map stops being useful.

You’ve passed the familiar exits. The radio fades in and out. The landmarks get harder to recognize. Maybe you missed a turn somewhere back there.

Or maybe this is exactly where you were supposed to end up.

I Don’t Mind arrives today.

It’s a song about that strange territory between holding on and letting go—when certainty disappears, but you keep moving anyway. Not because you know where the road leads. Because standing still isn’t really an option.

That idea has been following Driftline from the beginning.

Roads disappearing into fog. Signals arriving from somewhere just beyond reception. Harbors, thresholds, currents, wrong turns. Places that feel familiar even when you’ve never been there.

The new signpost image might be the clearest version of that world yet.

Every direction points somewhere.

None of them tells you where you are.

There’s something freeing about that.

We spend a lot of time looking for confirmation that we chose correctly—the right road, the right moment, the right version of ourselves. Sometimes you don’t get confirmation. Sometimes all you get is another mile of pavement disappearing around the bend.

So you follow it.

Maybe the destination isn’t the point.

Maybe it’s somewhere beyond the threshold.

I Don’t Mind — out now.

Somewhere Between the Signal  and the Noise

Driftline Project started without much of a plan.

A few songs. A few images. Fragments of ideas that seemed to belong together even when I couldn't quite explain why.

Somewhere along the way, a world began to form around them.

Lighthouses. Empty rooms. Late-night radio. Faded photographs. Places that may or may not have existed. Things half remembered and signals barely received.

The music is still the center of it. Everything else is an extension of the same impulse—another way of looking at the same thing from a different angle.

See. Feel. Hear.

Maybe that's as close to a mission statement as Driftline needs.

There will be music here. Images. Field notes. Half-formed ideas. Things found along the way. Occasionally, maybe even an explanation.

But probably not too many.

For now, that seems like enough.

Thanks for listening.
